Every once in a while I completely fall in love with a musician. It's something that just happens, it's never planned. In 2001 it was The Strokes, in 2004 it was Regina Spektor, in 2007 it was Camera Obscura, and in 2008 it's Jessica Hodges. I found out about Jess when I first built ReSpekt Online and we started getting traffic to the site. I got an email from from her requesting to be on our covers page. She performed an acoustic version of The Wallet by Regina Spektor. Her cover blew my mind. I loved everything about it.Since then I've been following Jessica's music through her Youtube & Last.fm pages. She is incredibly creative and has a natural talent that shows through in her music.
My current favorite song by Jess is an original called San Francisco. Her ability to tell a story in song is what separates her from most. Hopefully through 2008 she'll continue to grow as an artist and put out more great music.
